EFT - Emotional Freedom Techniques

What is EFT?

Most people are familiar with acupuncture and/or acupressure techniques. EFT is a form of "emotional acupressure." Dr. Roger Callahan, a clinical psychologist, is credited with the pioneer work which led to the following:

Tapping, with a finger, on specific acupuncture/acupressure points, while focusing one’s attention on a problem removes the unwanted or negative emotional component.  

Unwanted or negative emotions can be a disruption in the body's energy circuits. Learning and using this technique removes distress within your body. Doing so can have a profound and pleasant effect on attitude, perception, relationships and yes, even health.

How Does EFT Work?

The short answer is - EFT works very well! EFT works by removing the unwanted or negative emotional component from a memory, event, circumstance or situation.

Think of an unwanted or negative emotion as a "fuse blower." Since the brain/body’s ability to cope is now compromised, the application of EFT resets the circuit breaker, or repairs the blown fuse. Once this is done, you can begin to think more resourcefully and effectively again.

It is estimated that 80% of all psychotherapeutic interventions are about resolving the negative emotional component. Can anyone learn to use EFT effectively? Yes! What are the prerequisites? A desire to learn it!

What Can You Use EFT For?

There are many issues that you can use EFT for.  As a matter of fact, the list is almost endless! 

How about that feeling you experienced, stuck in traffic going nowhere fast, and that idiot who abruptly changed lanes and cut you off? How about when you are loading the car with groceries, the kids are demanding attention, and you drop the bag with the eggs? You’re feeling overloaded with the "must do" list, and the day isn’t long enough? Your daughter just graduated, you picked up the pictures and the roll of film was blank? As nice as you were at work, people just seemed to dump on you all day, now you’re tired, uptight and feel like you need some "medication" (i.e., a drink, a pill), or go and hide in a dark room?

These are all examples of everyday situations in which you can find yourself and if you knew how to use EFT you would be able to help yourself to feel better.

Please remember that whatever you decide to use EFT on, EFT is a tool or technique whose power and efficiency is in removing the unwanted or negative emotional aspect of the problem. It does not replace the need and value in seeking professional help from various medical professionals or specialists. The Benefits of Learning EFT

Learning and using this technique removes distress within your body. Doing so can have a profound and pleasant effect on attitude, perception, relationships, sports performance, and yes, even health. EFT is a simple, effective method you can do yourself, or use on others, to address: 

  • Stress, Depression, and Anxiety.
  • Trauma, from such things as war, accidents, rape, PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).
  • Fears and Phobias, such as flying, driving, claustrophobia, elevators, driving, bridges, heights, pubic speaking, etc.
  • Abuse (physical and/or mental).
  • Grief, Guilt and Anger.
  • Cravings, Addictions and Compulsions.
  • Headaches.
  • Lingering and Chronic Pain.
  • Motivation and Procrastination.

So you see, it is really worthwhile to decide to learn this tapping business, throw in a few word phrases, and then use it on anything that gets you uptight. Life does become more pleasant, indeed! And, if you do decide to use it on the "big" stuff, so much the better. You really can make a difference, simply and easily, and be delighted that you found a way to do so without expensive schooling or analysis.
