Editor's Note:
It's almost Christmas and we usually make this edition of Reflections a little lighter in tone than usual. But don't worry, we have also included our annual "Holiday Tapping Tips" as we have many new subscribers to our list; as well as serving as a reminder for you old-timers to remember to tap should you get a little stressed at this time of year. We also feel it's an excellent time to start enjoying the holiday season and what better way to do that than laughing. Alex has written something amusing about the weather and our puppy Ty, David has written a lovely poem, and there's a few Maxine cartoons. Please relax in front of your computer screen, or print out this newsletter, and hopefully it will bring a smile to your face as you read it.

It's that Time Again
by Dr. Alexander R. Lees

'Twas some time before Christmas
With lights all aglow
When She looked out the window
and loudly cried "SNOW!"

Okay, so it's lousy poetry, but I still have enough grey cells left to comprehend the white stuff was indeed falling, and both dogs were deep in repose before the fireplace. They went from deep Alpha to high Beta in some part of a microsecond; snapped awake about two feet off the floor, and when they landed, were already in four paw drive as they fought for traction on the hardwood floor and skidded to a halt in front of the large living room window.

Double paned glass certainly seems to provide more stopping power than the old single paned stuff, so I was gratified to realize the two whomp, whomps as they skidded into the sliding tempered glass door resulted in no damage at all.

Ty was far too young to venture out in the little snow we had last year, but as he was now as tall as he'd ever be, we lost little time in packing both dogs and ourselves into the trusty Subaru and ploughed through swirling white stuff to our local forest for a hike. Now, letting the dogs out of the vehicle is a serious undertaking, and not one we like to leave to the occasional innocent passenger that comes along from time to time. This manoeuver requires both military precision and lightening reflexes. The handle to open the back hatch is located squarely in the middle of the door. The idea is to release it, and as soon as the door begins to swing upwards, one must catapult themselves to one side of the vehicle within the same second, as both beasts launch as soon as the door opening begins.

Plop. Plop. Kaylie was now up to her chest in the strange white stuff, and Ty, somewhat lower, could easily be found as his black snout and ears were clearly protruding from the deep snow.

"I'll walk ahead and make a trail," I volunteered. "You follow behind, and they can then follow us." By the time I'd gone five steps, a tan blur whisked past, snow flying in every direction. Kaylie was now metres ahead, stopping only to shove her snout deep into the snow, snort and race off again, bouncing like a deer in tall grass to explore this delightful new world.

We both turned to look for Ty. Gamely, he was trudging along behind, following our makeshift trail. Ty has that kind of coat that everything sticks to, and as much time has been spent delicately removing burs, brambles, thorns, and anything else you can think of, as time spent hiking with him. Snow obviously was no exception. All four legs now looked as if he'd taken a clue from the Michelin Man, or at least dressed himself in white water wings; all four legs were at least four inches across, and from the way he was walking, quite heavy.

Exciting News!!!

Upon making eye contact, he simply sat down, and waited. Both Berit and I gently worked on each leg, rubbing and tugging until the snow was removed and sensing his new found freedom of movement, off he went as gamely as before. Well, the snow built up again, we repeated its removal and half an hour later, realized we'd covered 1/4 of the normal distance to the river.

"What should we do?" She asked, bending down one more time to clear the little guy's legs and underbelly. "Er, bring along a hair dryer and a very long extension cord?" I volunteered helpfully.

I hadn't seen that look on Berit's face since I forgot to buy her a card for something or other, but I knew this trip was going nowhere fast, and the white stuff was coming down even thicker, if that was possible. Observing him, the little guy was obviously tiring, but the Chow part, make that the stubborn independent part, had kicked in, and without a whimper of protest he began trudging forward again.

"Enough for today. Let's head back," She said, and we began to follow the nearly filled in footsteps towards the car. After several stops to clear Ty's clumps of snow Berit suggested I go on ahead and warm up the car. I'd managed to clear the glass and headlights by the time they arrived and we hoisted Ty into the warm interior. Kaylie simply bounded in and proceeded to shake off the melting snow all over the interior.

I think we saw three, maybe four cars on the way back. The drivers flashed their lights or honked their horns, as if to indicate our mutual bravery, or stupidity, depending on your point of view. In any event, the trusty Subaru continued making its own path through the snow covered road, until at last civilization came into view... namely the local shopping centre.

When Berit returned with the purchased goodies, shook off the snow and sat down, she said, "What were you tapping on?" "Oh, just watching the mayhem," I replied. "Everyone's in such a hurry, as if they are the only one entitled to a parking spot. It looked like a bumper car display out there, even saw a few heated arguments. I thought this was the giving season, you know, and it seems like it's all about take, take, take, and me, me, me."

Immediately, Berit performed a quick round of tapping. When done, I asked her what she'd tapped on. "Reminding myself not to leave you alone in public," she replied. "Now, let's go home."

As we finished drying the dogs and putting away the goodies, we reminded ourselves once again what a great technique this tapping business is, and yes, it certainly works its magic on depression, anxiety, fears, anger and so on. The idea is to remember the small stuff as well, like traffic, other's selfishness, etc.

All I know is the coffee, with just a hint of brandy, tasted exceptionally good as I sat watching the dancing flames in the fireplace, with both dogs curled up before the hearth, deep in contented slumber. They were probably dreaming about all the doggie treats Santa was going to leave for them under the tree, as I drifted off with my own dreams.

EFT Tapping Tips for the Holidays
by Dr. Alexander R. Lees

Christmas comes but once a year. It is a time of great anticipation, excitement, joy and good times for many. For some, it is not. There are high expectations, hope and determination that this year, things will be different. Maybe this year everything will work out as planned and everyone will have a wonderful holiday season. Then something happens.

Aunt Matilda once again, offends everyone. Uncle George does a half gainer into the punch bowl, the dog destroys the tree, or the overloaded circuit supplying power to all those lights finally decides to protect the humans by expiring.

Now, all the effort and work, the shopping, the wrapping presents, the baking, cooking the turkey, the planning was supposed to culminate in a wonderful Christmas. Well, before EFT, when the glitches happened, and they always seemed to, the resulting negativity tended to generalize out, and contaminated part, or all, of the festive season. Another Christmas ruined, or not so good.

This year can be different. Here's what you can do to make this Christmas be the joyous occasion you hope and plan for. Turn your attention inwards, and notice your reaction to an event or circumstance. Put what you are feeling into words. Once you have put into words what you are feeling, you are clear on your response, decide if you want to feel that way. If you would prefer "X" never happened, if you would prefer not to feel that way, then now is the time to change it.

Start with tapping the P.R. point (also known as the Karate Chop) and as you continue to tap, describe to yourself what happened, or how you feel, and place "Even though" in front of it. When you have repeated it three times, tapping the P.R. point the whole time, then tap the rest of the points using a reminder phrase as you do so.

Here's an example.

While tapping the P.R. (also known as Karate Chop) point say,

"Even though Uncle George is drunk once again, and has now dumped the punch bowl's contents all over Aunt Mary, none the less, I deeply and completely accept myself."

Repeat three times, with emphasis. Then tap the rest of the points, using a reminder phrase, such as "Uncle George."

Alternatively, you may be more aware of your anger towards Uncle George. Tapping the P.R. point you would say,

"Even though I'm angry at Uncle George, I deeply and completely accept myself."

Repeat three times, with emphasis.

Then tap the rest of the points using the reminder phrase, "This anger."

This protocol will work equally well for feelings of disappointment, sadness, loneliness, frustration, etc. The idea is to pay attention to the 'glitch,' acknowledge it, frame it into words, and tap it. You will accomplish several things.

  • You will feel better sooner, thus allowing yourself to enjoy the holidays more.
  • You will prevent the incident from generalizing out, and thus stop your memory filing "just another bad Christmas."
  • By doing so, maybe, just maybe, you will give yourself a happy and contented Christmas.

Computer Tech Support

Actual conversations with Tech Support at various computer and software companies. As my friend Tamara wrote when she sent this to me... "The questions seem reasonable to me." I agree with her.

A woman customer called the Canon help desk with a problem with her printer.
Tech support:Are you running it under windows?
Customer: "No, my desk is next to the door, but that is a good point. The man sitting in the cubicle next to me is under a window, and his printer is working fine."

Tech support: How may I help you?
Customer: I'm writing my first e-mail.
Tech support: OK, and what seems to be the problem?
Customer: Well, I have the letter 'a' in the address, but how do I get the circle around it?

Customer: Can't get on the Internet.
Tech support: Are you sure you used the right password?
Customer: Yes, I'm sure. I saw my colleague do it.
Tech support: Can you tell me what the password was?
Customer: Five stars...

Tech support: Your password is the small letter "a" as in apple, a capital letter V as in Victor, the number 7.
Customer: Is that 7 in capital letters?

Customer: My keyboard is not working anymore.
Tech support: Are you sure it's plugged into the computer?
Customer: No. I can't get behind the computer.
Tech support: Pick up your keyboard and walk 10 paces back.
Customer: OK
Tech support: Did the keyboard come with you?
Customer: Yes
Tech support: That means the keyboard is not plugged in. Is there another keyboard?
Customer: Yes, there's another one here. Ah...that one does work...

Customer: I have problems printing in red...
Tech support: Do you have a color printer?
Customer: Aaaah....................thank you.

Tech support: Click on the 'my computer' icon on to the left of the screen.
Customer: Your left or my left?

Tech support: "Okay Bob, let's press the control and escape keys at the same time. That brings up a task list in the middle of the screen. Now type the letter "P" to bring up the Program Manager."
Customer: I don't have a P.
Tech support: On your keyboard, Bob.
Customer: What do you mean?
Tech support: "P".....on your keyboard, Bob.
Customer: I'M NOT GOING TO DO THAT!!!

Editor's Note: David wrote this verse and used to recite it at his NLP workshops. The students loved it 'cause after hearing it, they felt like they were floating on a cloud. Hopefully you will too after reading it, and continue to enjoy the lovely feeling you have now, all through the holidays.

Dreamy Nights
by Dave Marshall

As night soaks bravely down the hill
And sleep your dreams can fulfill
As mists and wisps of cloud pass by
Transforming deep the night blue sky

While moonlit shadows bathe the scene
With moving patterns now that mean
By floating high above the clouds
You leave behind the busy crowds

And look towards a peaceful time
Feeling feelings so sublime
For you're free to wonder how
You can start things changing now

And begin to find new things of worth
Behind the simple things on earth
That move toward you bright and clear
With tinkling sounds that now you hear

Until you start to feel this thrill
As dawn flows softly across the hill.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Dave Marshall

Berit's Corner

Let's see... last month I was whining and complaining about Mercury in retrograde, Kaylie maybe needing surgery and Alex's broken laptop... that all seems SO long ago now. After all that whining, I feel all "whined" out, so I'm going to write about "good" stuff.

There's good news and more good news in the Lees' world. Mercury in retrograde is now finished... until the next time. It was a full moon... a few days ago. Kaylie didn't need surgery and she's now fully recovered from chewing something very nasty and her throat is totally healed. And, Alex's laptop is also healed and was delivered today!

So the only thing I could whine about (if I wanted to) is the weather, but by now, many people are probably aware that we had a very miserable month of November. Wind storms knocked down trees, we lost power, then after a week of that, we got the snow storm. Living on the west coast of Canada we are not used to freezing temperatures and SNOW. And, especially not 20" falling in one day! But, after a week of that, we finally got rain and it's starting to melt. Whoopie!

There's only two weeks left until Christmas and the time is flying by. Before we know it we'll be in England. Yes, we're very excited because we're going to present one of our Art of Delivery workshops in England at the beginning of February! We were contacted by a very nice man (Gary Williams) and after a few emails and a couple of phone chats, he said he and his partner Shirley would like to bring us to England to do a workshop.

All the locations (they're considering several options) are in a beautiful part of England with lots of stuff to see and do. So, I'm hoping that the people we know in England and Europe will want to come to the workshop because it would be wonderful to see you again! Especially the people we taught EFT because we could have a reunion, and catch up on how everyone is doing.

I know, I'm supposed to go on and on about all the reasons why learning the information we will be teaching in our Art of Delivery workshop is so fantastic you won't want to miss it, but I confess the main reason I want you to attend is so we can see you again!

You can call me selfish, but I think it's a good selfish. Besides seeing each other again, you would also learn a lot of new stuff and have some fun. Please check out the details of the workshop at www.EFTArtofDelivery.com I know that Gary and Shirley will be organizing a great event for us all, and both Alex and I are really looking forward to it.

And, last but not least, on the "good news" front... we found THE "marketing guy." We feel truly fortunate to have discovered Rob Ciccone of Success Unlimited Sales & Marketing Group Inc. As some of you may remember I've been on the hunt for a marketing guru for many months, and can't believe how lucky we are in meeting Rob. He's great and we have had very interesting conversations and meetings. Plus, he's got a really wonderful plan for us which we are starting to put in place.

So, it looks like 2007 is going to be a really great year for us. Lots of new stuff will be happening and we will be undergoing many changes in the coming months. I know that many of you have seen the movie The Secret so you know that what you "put out there," you can get (the movie said it far more eloquently than I just did!). I'm tickled pink that some of the stuff I "wished" for is happening. And the really cool part is that these new people that have entered our lives (Rob, Gary and Shirley) are great people. We're going to have a lot of fun in the coming months... and years!

Both Alex and I hope that your wishes and dreams come into reality in 2007... remember all you have to do is put the thoughts "out there," and then enjoy what happens next!

Take care,
Till next year
