Counselling and Therapy

Resilience:
"To spring or bounce back. Readily
recovering from depression,
trauma, shock, etc."

        - Oxford Dictionary

In my private practice I teach people to build on their strengths and not just "treat" their problems. I focus on how people can best overcome bad events or situations. The ability to get through, get over and thrive after trauma, trials and tribulations is known as resilience.

Resilience is the key skill one needs for the new millennium. In spite of the constant stress in our lives, the ever changing world and technology, we need to discover (or re-kindle) the skills to bounce back and thrive. Rather than break down in the face of stress, we can flourish and grow.

We all have innate resilience. The key is how to re-activate it. When you do, you have new and resourceful approaches to life. The medium used to re-activate this resilience is your emotions. Emotions are like pathways through your mindfield. Emotions influence your mind. However, did you know that your mind can influence your emotions?

You are invited to come and explore how to influence and adjust those emotions.

When a client comes to see me I strive to provide hope, and a safe, comfortable atmosphere. By taking the time to understand the problem, we can then seek ways to resolve it -- whether it's centred around work, relationships or family. My private practice encompasses the following.

Individuals

Are you bothered by:

  • Emotional traumas
  • Depression
  • Unhappy childhood
  • Phobias
  • Compulsions
  • Low self esteem, image or worth
  • Lack of motivation
  • Procrastination
  • Sabotaging success

The three prerequisites of change are:

  1.     Want to
  2.     Opportunity to
  3.     Know how to

Bring #1 with you. I will supply #2 and #3.

"Thank you, I now realize I was fine before, and will be even better in the future."

T.M., White Rock, BC

The Mind/Body Connection

Techniques such as guided imagery and deep progressive relaxation can be used for pain management, accelerated healing and influencing the physiology of a disease.

Family Dynamics

  •  Does living in your family feel like walking on egg shells?

Learn the pathways. The dynamics of a family can be fun and healthy, once you understand what the dynamics are.

Children/Adolescents

  •  Do you have a child diagnosed with a learning disability?

In my experience learning disabilities are 'learned.' Therefore, they can be 'unlearned.'

Does your child suffer from:

  • enuresis
  • nightmares
  • shyness
  • behavioural problems
  • anorexia and/or bulimia

There is hope. You can help them now, so that they can grow up to be healthy, happy adults.

"I was in a Learning Assistance class, and now, I'm not!"
